OpenMeetings and H323

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has already connected H323 clients to an OM conference room.

I have a videoconferencing machine that only supports H323 and would like to have it enter an OM room somehow.

Maybe a workaround would be to use red2sip to link OM to a SIP server such as Asterisk and then use an asterisk H323 channel module to connect to my H323 devices. There's no such project out there that gives OM direct H323 support, right? Also, if I want to use Asterisk 11 I'd need to patch it with experimental h323 support code (not natively supported).

Any ideas/experiences?

Thanks,

Vieri

Thanks, I'll take a look at Yate.

red5sip can work with any other SIP sever, not only Asterisk (but in this
case some integration features like SIP dialer in OM wouldn't work).
You could use some other PBX that has good h323 and SIP support, that will
receive h323 calls and redirect them to Asterisk with red5sip.

This may be going slightly off-topic but if OM doesn't have direct H323 support, did anyone succeed getting h323 support in Asterisk 11 and bridging h323 calls via red5sip to OM?

I think the hard/experimental part is getting good and stable h323 support within Asterisk 11. That's why I was asking if anyone sees another solution that doesn't require using Asterisk.

Thanks for your suggestion Timur.

Hello,

I guess it can be done using Asterisk channel bridging.
Try create an extention in context, thar specified in user/peer in
h323.conf and redirect it to conference MeetMe/Confbridge extension via
Goto command.
