spamd's children take too long to die

Hi,

First, i just want to say hello because i am new to this list.
I decided to subscribe to it because I have a serious problem with the spamd daemon.

SpamAssassin 2.63 is installed on a RedHat7.3 OS with Perl 5.6.1.
spamd is started with '-L -d -c -a -m5 -H' options.

When an email is parsed with spamc/spamd, it takes nearly 30 to 45 seconds before the newly created spamd died although my email manager gets a response in 3 seconds !!

So when I have to check some emails, I get a lot of spamd children running together (even if they are not used anymore)
and my server does not have anymore memory and CPU ressources. Finally, i've got time-out error if there are more than 4 emails to receive :-((

Is there anyone who got this problem ???

thanks,
Fabrice Robin

This is probably fixed on 3.0. They have changed the way things are done,
and in fact all of the spamd children are started at the front, than then
the same ones are used over and over to process mail.

I don't think I've heard anyone else mention this exact symptom before on
2.63, but that doesn't mean that is isn't happening. Maybe just nobody
noticed.
