http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=42692

           Summary: Create JUnit4 task that is feature compliant to the
                    JUnit task
           Product: Ant
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P3
         Component: Optional Tasks
        AssignedTo: dev@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: bflat1@gmx.net

It'd be great to have a JUnit4 task that provides all the features the JUnit task provides:

* Running a single test method.
* Running a test n times.

AFAIK these don't work with the test runner wrapper provided by JUnit4.

------- Additional Comments From bflat1@gmx.net  2007-06-18 08:27 -------
Peter: I'm currently trying to verify it, but think the execution properties:

<sysproperty key="junit.test.method"      		 value="${method}"/>
<sysproperty key="junit.test.times"        		 value="${times}"/>

are not honored for JUnit4 tests, with "method" being the more important one.

How exactly does the current junit task not
work with junit4 as against junit3?

------- Additional Comments From stevel@apache.org  2007-06-18 08:08 -------
we could certainly do with a complete junit4 test runner, although its home may
be better off inside junit itself. One thing ant cannot do is abandon junit3
compatibility; this would be a new junit4 task in a new junit4 antlib.

As such, we would welcome code, doc and test contributions from developers who
use junit4 and would benefit from the task.

Sorry, I just learnt these are features we provide in our own TestSuite class, so we should be able to remedy this by providing our own custom test runner for JUnit4. I'm sorry about the confusion.
