apache respawn

Hi

I'm trying to configure apache so It would start with one proces only
and won't respawn it when it terminates.

To do so I have set the vars below to 1, but the childs keeps respawing
after it died.

MaxkeepaliveRequests
Startservers
Maxclients

What must I change?
