Hi, I have also this problem when I create artifacts with classifiers. I don't know if the problem is in the maven-install-plugin or in the maven-jar-plugin.

I could work around the problem, if disable the default "install" goal, and instead call a "install-file" goal. Take a look at mvn-install-fail.zip where the problem is demonstrated in "failing", and the "fix" in "workaround".
