JcrResourceProvider.delete always throws a PersistentException, regardless of the success of the delete operation. This change was introduced in Rev. 1361122 (http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/sling/trunk/bundles/jcr/resource/src/main/java/org/apache/sling/jcr/resource/internal/helper/jcr/JcrResourceProvider.java?r1=1360715&r2=1361122&diff_format=h) and looks like an unintended change to me.
