I assumed that almost all the work would be in deciding what to program,
how to release it, and documenting it, especially describing when to use
it, not in the actual programming, which I could do but did not expect
to be an issue.

If you indeed consider the programming to be a significant part of the
project, I'll take care of it. I assume you would prefer C++, but let me
know if you would prefer a different language. Any particular GUI
library? Is there an automated way of finding the directory containing
the relevant .openoffice, "~" in your example, or should I ask the user?
