   Thanks for your quick reply @exceptionfactory. Our primary focus was to develop the Azure Data Explorer sink for NiFi (PR in pipeline) and this Azure Data Explorer processor as a source for NiFi was done to complete the ecosystem involving Azure Data Explorer and NiFi. So we don't have any particular use case for Azure Data Explorer as a standalone source. 
   
   Maybe we can start with your suggestion to make our processor in line with other source processor and merge this PR. Once we get similar query on supporting standalone source for our processor, we can implement the same.
   
   @exceptionfactory, what do you suggest on this.
