it seems like they won't merge as long as there's no sample-app that they can use to reproduce this error -- but I haven't heard any feedback yet, so that's just a guess
unfortunately, atm, I don't have the time to create some simple app that can reproduce this error:
I think this error can happen, if (1) the app takes some time to initialize, (2) but finishes before the preset timeout for the splash-screen is reached, and then closes the splash-screen manually
I have these conditions in a project I am currently working on, but it's not public code, so I cannot simply provide that as as sample app for reproducing the error
