CatalystTypeConverter.toCatalyst uses the following methods for type conversion
{code:java}
if (maybeScalaValue.isInstanceOf[Option[ScalaInputType]]) {
  val opt = maybeScalaValue.asInstanceOf[Option[ScalaInputType]]
{code}
 

 can use Type match to simplify this pattern
