Truncating fields

Hello,

A log4j2-logstash-layout user submitted a feature request to truncate
individual fields <https://github.com/vy/log4j2-logstash-layout/issues/31>.
Even though I can implement such a feature in the plugin itself, I was just
wondering if there is a way to suffice this need using default Log4j2
feature set. Any ideas?
