besides, I have encountered the same problem described in GERONIMO-4817:
"have to input 2 times to input a character in the gshell mode"

> Gshell command: "geronimo/start-server -b" doesn't work

> Affects Versions: 2.2
> Environment: windows xp; sun jdk 1.5.0_20-b02; geronimo build: 2010.05.14-13:55:33.389-0400

> According to the Geronimo Doc 2.2, when the Gshell comand "geronimo/start-server -b" is run, the server instance will give up the control of the terminal when it is started up. So that we can interact with the server without the need of starting another Gshell.
> But the result of running "geronimo/start-server -b" is of no difference with "geronimo/start-server ", in which case we still have to open another Gshell if we want to interact with server instance.
> But the command "geronimo/start-server --background" works fine.
