Regarding Image
Hi all,
Is it possible to add a .gif file in the particular cell say (1,2)?

Nope.. however it is possible to more or less attach it to said cell.
The file format doesn't associate the images directly with the cells.
You can play with that in the GUI and even kinda see the relationship.

I have never had any success trying to save a
spredsheet containing an image; the only times I
tried, HSSF generated a file that Excel regarded as
invalid, removing the image allowed HSSF to save a
valid file.
