[jira] Commented: (HARMONY-6601) [classlib][nio] SocketChannel.connect(null) and DatagramChannel.connect(null) should throw NullPointerException

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HARMONY-6601?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12892742#action_12892742 ]

Tim Ellison commented on HARMONY-6601:
--------------------------------------

I get IllegalArgumentException when testing the RI:

e.g.
       DatagramChannel c = DatagramChannel.open();
        c.connect(null);

produces:

Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_22-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_22-b03, mixed mode)
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException
...

Which version are you testing with?

> Calling SocketChannel.open(null), SocketChannel.connect(null) or DatagramChannel.connect(null) on the RI throws a NullPointerException. On Harmony we get an IllegalArgumentException. All of these methods are using SocketChannelImpl.validateAddress helper method.
