some questions on JSPWiki

Hi all,

I'm just updating our wikimatrix.org record
(http://www.wikimatrix.org/show/JSPWiki) and have a few questions
regarding various aspects of JSPWiki:

* Is this page still up-to-date?
  http://www.ecyrd.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/jspwiki-users
When subscribing there, is one automatically put on the
  jspwiki-user@incubator.apache.org list?

* There's a question "Can some scripting be used in wiki pages? Which
language is used?", which is at the moment answered with "TCL
plugin, JavaScript". Is this still correct and exhaustive?

* Are main actions of the wiki available via keyboard shortcuts?
I think yes, because it's documented on
  http://www.jspwiki.org/wiki/JSPWikiKeyboardShortcuts
but I've never found out how it works... IS it working?

Regards,
 Florian

Just a small clarification.

The mailing list information here: http://www.ecyrd.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/jspwiki-users
refers to the jspwiki-users@jspwiki.org mailing list that is closed
and no longer used.

The mailing list information here: http://www.jspwiki.org/wiki/JSPWikiMailingList
refers to jspwiki-user@incubator.apache.org and is the current
mailing list for the project.

Nope. That list is closed and it's impossible to join.

The correct page to refer to is the JSPWikiMailingList page on
jspwiki.org.

Janne,

There is no JS involved for shortcut keys, this is standard HTML.
The rendering of the underscore is part of the wikitags for TABBED SECTION.

BTW, how expensive is this operation? I'm a bit worried at all the JS
hackery that is going on, as slower computers (e.g. my cell phone)
seem to be somewhat sluggish when accessing jspwiki.

Yes, no special handling.

And what to do then? Do we translate to "Anzeigen (_v_)" then or just
leave the access key away?

Re: access keys and i18n, was: Re: some questions on JSPWiki

Shortcut-keys are not i18n, but hard-coded into the JSPs.
Eg on OS-X, changing the language, does not change the short-cut keys.

As the 'underscore' in the TAB, which indicates the shortcut key, is
calculated at runtime, the A of Attachment is also underscored in
BijlAgen in Dutch.
But when the shortcut key is not found, no chars are underscored:
there is no 'V' in 'Anzeigen'

access keys and i18n, was: Re: some questions on JSPWiki

Posted by Florian Holeczek <fl...@holeczek.de>.
Thanks Dirk! Now I've found out that it's Alt+Shift+<key> in both
Firefox 2 and IE7. I guess this was the only combination I had
forgotten :-)

Is there any rule on how to do internationalization regarding access
keys? The problem is, for example, 'View' has the access key 'v', but
in german it's 'Anzeigen'.

Florian,

Works fine on OS-X. (use Ctrl+<key>)

On Windows you should use Alt+<key> which seems to work ok on IE6 ,
but with the restriction that you need to use the keyboard shortcut to
select the link or button, then press enter to execute.
But I had issues with FF on Win too. Alt+<something> leads you to
predefined FF keys.

I'm using Firefox 2 and Windows XP SP2 with IE7. In both browsers
I've tried several combinations of Alt, Ctrl and the Windows key, but
no success.

Yes, I wrote and maintain a GroovyPlugin, available at

    http://purl/ceryle/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=GroovyPlugin

It works fine, though I've not updated it for the latest version of
Groovy. There's even a console script, providing a scripting window
(this is provided via a Groovy script). If there's a call for an
update I can make that available (a bit busy this week though).

There is a notice on the above page that you should *never* include
scripting on a wiki exposed on the Web, as that would be a security
risk. Really bad idea. Via the plugin you can get direct access to
the JSPWiki WikiEngine.

You need plugins for scripting.
As far as I know, there is also a Groovy plugin available.

Yes, this is working. Both on OS-X as WIN platforms.
The help-texts indicate the shortcut key in square brackets, the TABS
have the shortcut key underscored.
