Seems like Novell has an LDAP test service, see http://www.nldap.com/ .
Also, there's a big list at http://www.emailman.com/ldap/public.html -
I don't know which ones are "good" though ;-)

Thx, I got a working example. I think it can be placed between the
HowTos on the wiki.
I still have the count-limit problem though.
