Finding version of svnserve from client

Is there a way to tell what version of svnserve is running on the 
server from the client side?

E.g. if someone tells me they updated the server to 1.1.4 but I don't 
have access to the server other than through the svn:// protocol, how 
can I confirm  the actual running version?
