[users@httpd] How to use mod_dav with mod_auth_digest
Hurry, I have web dav working with basic
authentication.
Can I use WebDAV with digest authentication? It seems
like the documentation of mod_dav conflicts with
mod_auth_digest.
Here is what I am using presently:
<Location /cgi-source>
Dav On
AuthType Basic
AuthName DAV
AuthUserFile "D:/Program Files/Apache
Group/Apache2/conf/main.passwd"
ForceType text/plain
# <LimitExcept GET POST DEL>
require user siegfried
# </LimitExcept>
</Location>
Now, how do I incorporate mod_auth_digest?
The example code from the documentation looks like
this:
<Location /private/>
AuthType Digest
AuthName "private area"
AuthDigestDomain /private/
http://mirror.my.dom/private2/
AuthDigestFile /web/auth/.digest_pw
Require valid-user
</Location>
Do I abandon htpasswd in favor of htdigest or use
both?
Does AuthDigestFile replace AuthUserFile? What do I
put for AuthName? DAV?
Thanks,
Sieg

Good. That means that either the .htaccess is in the wrong directory or
AllowOverride is off for that directory.

AuthConfig is an option to AllowOverride. But since you have
AllowOverride All, that includes AuthConfig.
Your problem is almost certainly that you have another AllowOverride
someplace that is overriding that one. For information on how the
location of the directive affects the order it is processed, see:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/sections.html#mergin
But you can probably solve your problem by putting something like
<Directory /path/to/directory/containing/.htaccess>
AllowOverride All
</Directory>

See:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_autoindex.html#indexignore
For example:
IndexIgnore *.html *.gif

Please be much more specific about how it fails.
Remove the <Directory /> and </Directory>. They are not allowed in
.htaccess, and are not necessary since the directives apply automatically
to the directory in which they are contained.
The other thing you need to check is your AllowOverride. You show one in
a <Directory />, but it doesn't contain "AuthConfig", which you need, and
you also need to be sure it isn't overriden by another AllowOverride
further down the tree.

[users@httpd] Use of mod_auth_mysql
Posted by David Gonzalez <te...@tuxcafe.com>.
Hello Richard,
Using: Apache 2.0.49 "--enable-mods-shared=most" PHP 4.3.5 OpenSSL on Linux
SuSE 9.0
Any good way to use mod_auth_mysql?.
I've also tried to use .htaccess to protect some content from my server but
it does not work look at me configs:
httpd.conf
...........
<Directory />
IndexOptions FancyIndexing NameWidth=* FoldersFirst \
ScanHTMLTitles DescriptionWidth=*
HeaderName HEADER.html
ReadmeName README.html
AllowOverride FileInfo Indexes
Options Indexes SymLinksIfOwnerMatch
</Directory>
cat /www/htdocs/tuxcafe/admin/.htaccess
<Directory />
AuthType Basic
AuthName Admins
AuthUserFile /www/passwd
require valid-user
</Directory>
Any ideas on why doesn't it work?. i know i can use it directly on
httpd.conf though i wanted to test with .htaccess files but no use.
the URL is www.tuxcafe.com/admin
Thx
