   What is the current state of this PR? I see that there is an agreement to resolve the issue 1.x line, but is a bit hard do judge if the mail thread discussion reached consesus plus there are some requested changes on the PR. Do you think the fix is ready to be merged into 1.20.1 and 1.19.2?
