[VOTE] Notice for modules that use W3C DDR APIs
Hi,
Here's the updated notice with the necessary parts and phrase as discussed.
It shall either from scratch make up a new NOTICE file where necessary
(e.g. new modules like W3C "wrappers") or to be added/updated in existing
NOTICE files like that of existing W3C DDR implementations.
***
This module uses the W3C DDR APIs described at
http://www.w3.org/TR/DDR-Simple-API/
The source code of those APIs is available at
http://www.w3.org/2005/MWI/DDWG/drafts/api/simple/java/src/
While it seems reasonable to assume that that source code is licensed
under the standard W3C software license
(http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/2002/copyright-software-20021231)
there is unfortunately no explicit license information in that source code.
Users of the affected DeviceMap modules are therefore requested to
make their own decision about whether that code is ok for them to use,
from a licensing point of view.
***
Please vote +1/-1 or abstain.
Thanks,
Werner

Thanks, almost everyone voted. If the 72h pass, I'll apply this (likely a
weekend, too, with more time for Open Source work;-)

Just leave the vote open for 72 hours as per
http://www.apache.org/foundation/voting.html and then tally it with a
[RESULT] as you learned during incubation.
There's no obligation for PMC members to vote, 72 hours gives them
ample time to do that.

Thanks.
There are 2 more team members though the minimum 3 votes are so far reached.
There will be separate votes on artifacts to be released, this is just the
necessary legal foundation for any of these W3C modules to remain at
DeviceMap and for calling DeviceMap as a whole "W3C compliant" without
lying;-)
W3C DDR Simple API is the only formal recommendation in this area:
http://www.w3.org/TR/#tr_Device_Description_Repository
Even the Device Description Structure (which "data" is based on or at least
inspired by) was only a Working Draft, and both OpenDDR and DeviceMap have
since continued that work (a "draft" makes that easier than a final spec;-)
