[users@httpd] apache need to be restarted ... why ?

hi all 

we have been having this problem with apache web server where it wont load up until it is restarted.

on friday the websites on the server were working fine ...

as far as i know no changes were made to the website ...

any ideas on this matter .. is this to be expected ?
