My suggestion was for all platforms.  It seems silly to me for the
basename to be arbitrarily cutoff just because it is a version number.
And yes, this does affect the filename that gets offered on Win95
when you do a "Save as ...".

No big deal, but it is easier to change it than to argue about why.
