Best Practice of using log4j within a Servlet

Hi,

I would like to know what is the best practice of using log4j within a
servlet. I need to send the log thru 1 or multiple sockets (depends on how
many people "subscribe" it).

Should I use the AsyncAppender? I read the documentation that it may not
provide the best performance.
