I have a mixture of windows & mac os 10.6.4 clients experiencing problems when
accessing a server running FreeBSD 8.1/AMD64 with Apache 2.2.16_1 (built via
ports).
The specific applications running on these clients which are having problems
are sage line 50 on windows xp & adobe indesign cs5 running on mac os x
These apps crash randomly when trying to write data back, with no consistent
means of reproducing the issue
On the apache server, the only error I've found being logged at all is : "Could
not get next bucket brigade"
Below is the output from the error access & forensics log from a window client
accessing the apache server where the "Could not get next bucket brigade" has
been logged (output has been obfuscated) (the client did not experience a crash
on this occasion)

This error message typically indicates that the client did not deliver the
announced amount of data at all or within a reasonable timeframe (Hint: Timeout
setting in httpd) during a PUT request.
In your access logs this PUT request can seen here:

So unless there are more facts this is a client bug and not an httpd bug.
