virtual hang out

Saw on google+ that you could start a hangout, which is basically
using your webcam. Was thinking it might not be a bad idea to have
some sort of a once a month meetup/hangout (for maybe 15 minutes to an
hour) . We really do not need to wait for conferences to meet, the
technology and infrastructure is right here (at our fingertips). Could
be a great way to Q & A, invite prospective contributors who could
listen to discussions and participate if they feel comfortable.
Clarify doubts, even possibly screenshare and hack.

Just a thought

It's an interesting idea. Since OpenEJB is an ASF project there will need to be some community guidelines.

Not everyone has or can get a google+ account. And so, just like IRC or voice chat/conference system and even a face-to-face conference, any technical discussions must be summarized on these mailing lists. No final decisions kind can be made outside of the mailing lists.

This does not mean that you cannot use other technologies to expedite the answer to a complicated question or to obtain a technical consensus in an expedient manner. It's just that the technical discussions must eventually wind their way back to the mailing lists for the rest of the community to participate; be prepared to re-hash points that were worked out outside the mailing list.

With that said, can some send me a google+ invite to alan dot cabrera at gmail dot com? :)

Another suggestion is to have a Skype call which we used in Apache

I guess if we would have this like monthly or so, we should start a
vote on the tool(s) that we will use, so we make sure it is available

Wow, this would be great ! How about using StackOverflow chatroom..? We
could create one room for OpenEJB.

On browsing through, these are some features they have :

Creation of events ( exportable to calendar ) : Checkout Android room
Sending invites for events
Bookmarking of conversations
Archival of conversations
Syntax highlighting for code snippets
Some links that are automatically inlined (esp: github gists )

Awesome, set of features for a hangout.. :)
