cannot build xerces


Hi,
   I am not able to build xerces-J(1.4.4).
I am using make utility of visual cafe. I have downloaded cygwin.
What can be wrong?

when i say "make jars" i get an error message.
Here is the error message:

Error on line : expecting target : dependencies

Makefile has not been changed.

Any help will be appreciated.
