[jira] [Created] (HBASE-29423) Incremental backups broken for non-default namespaces
Dieter De Paepe created HBASE-29423:
---------------------------------------
Summary: Incremental backups broken for non-default namespaces
Key: HBASE-29423
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-29423
Project: HBase
Issue Type: Bug
Components: backup&restore
Affects Versions: 2.6.2, 3.0.0, 4.0.0-alpha-1
Reporter: Dieter De Paepe
HBASE-27659 added the `getTargetDirForTable(TableName table)` method to `IncrementalTableBackupClient`. In that method, the following line causes an URISyntaxException for a table that has a (non-default) namespace:
{code:java}
path = new Path(path, table.getNameAsString());{code}
Since that resolves to "namespace:tablename". Which in turn gets parsed as a URI schema incorrectly. The resulting error:
{code:java}
[2025-06-25T11:16:33.844Z] Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: java.net.URISyntaxException: Relative path in absolute URI: ngdata:CUSTOMER[2025-06-25T11:16:33.844Z] at org.apache.hadoop.fs.Path.initialize(Path.java:264)[2025-06-25T11:16:33.844Z] at org.apache.hadoop.fs.Path.<init>(Path.java:222)[2025-06-25T11:16:33.844Z] at org.apache.hadoop.fs.Path.<init>(Path.java:130)[2025-06-25T11:16:33.844Z] at org.apache.hadoop.hbase.backup.impl.IncrementalTableBackupClient.getTargetDirForTable(IncrementalTableBackupClient.java:462) {code}
This breaks incremental backups.
