[jira] [Commented] (BIGTOP-2320) Add Apache HAWQ (incubating) to Bigtop

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BIGTOP-2320?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15200865#comment-15200865 ]

Konstantin Boudnik commented on BIGTOP-2320:
--------------------------------------------

The branch is updated with the latest code rebased on top of the master's HEAD. Centos build/packaging (and pretty much deployment) is to the point where automatic build can produce the packages (as in https://ci.bigtop.apache.org/view/Packages/job/Bigtop-trunk-1off-component-build/BUILD_ENVIRONMENTS=centos-7,label=docker-slave/). There's a couple of hackish and ugly pieces to setup libhdfs3, but it will be gone once Hawq community adds the library into their project source code.

The deployment almost (TM) works when the package is build from RC4 tag, but from master something seems to get missed. Hence TODO more work here.

The Ubuntu build is still screwup big time mostly because of anything usable to satisfy thrift dependency (in case of CentOS one is available from epel-release repo)

> Apache HAWQ (incubating) is Hadoop native SQL and advanced MPP elastic query engine that traces its lineage to PostgreSQL. It is now incubating with Apache and is about to have its first official ASF release. Since HAWQ is implemented mostly in C having binary convenience artifacts as part of the project release is suboptimal. Besides, given that it is a native YARN application we need to integrate it with the rest of the Bigtop stack.
> This is an umbrella JIRA to track HAWQ inclusion in the next release of Bigtop. Hopefully it'll be ready by 1.2 timeframe.
