> Htrace supports timeline annotations for spans, in addition to key-value annotations. A timeline annotation has a timestamp (between the start and and stop times of the span) and a description. We could convert some of our spans to timeline annotations to reduce inserts into the trace table. It would also be useful to analyze and reduce existing spans where stop time equals start time, which presumably are not giving us much information.
