[GitHub] [apisix] cataglyphis opened a new issue, #10255: help request: limit-req rate value

cataglyphis opened a new issue, #10255:
URL: https://github.com/apache/apisix/issues/10255

   ### Description

We deploy 5 pods for apisix, and plan to set `limit-req` to restrict traffic. If we set rate value to 500, which means the total request count of 5 pods, or only the one pod (total request limit is 500*5)?

   ### Environment

   - APISIX version (run `apisix version`): 2.15
   - Operating system (run `uname -a`): ubuntu
   - OpenResty / Nginx version (run `openresty -V` or `nginx -V`):
   - etcd version, if relevant (run `curl http://127.0.0.1:9090/v1/server_info`):
   - APISIX Dashboard version, if relevant:
   - Plugin runner version, for issues related to plugin runners:
   - LuaRocks version, for installation issues (run `luarocks --version`):

According to the doc, if you use `limit-req`, total request limit is 2500; (should use RR between the instances).

If you want to share between the apisix instances, use [limit-count](https://apisix.apache.org/docs/apisix/plugins/limit-count/) with redis/redis-cluster.

And the `limit-req` using the [leaky bucket](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leaky_bucket) algorithm, while the `limit-count` using the Fixed Window algorithm.
