I'll try to slot 'em in. I've also got to try the new version if
InstallShield.

In short, yep.

Cheers,

Ben.

BTW, a bit ago, I commited some tenative Win32-packaging instructions
to dev.apache.org/how-to-release. I never saw any comment on
those.... Since at the moment, it looks like you (Ben) will be stuck
doing that for 1.3b1, perhaps you could take a moment and review
those, so we can figure out exactly what needs to be done?

Possibly... I'm still disturbed that there's no way to use
script-based CGIs that don't use # as a comment character, since the
current code emulates Unix in this manner. Isn't it possible (as in
other servers, like IIS) to use the Windows file system stuff to
associate extensions with programs, and launch them that way?

I think it'd be quite reasonable to do this. I've said that before,
surely? Anyway, go for it. So long as Win32 can be built, I'm happy.

BTW, all the major issues seem to be with CGIs, I suddenly realise. Not
surprising, I suppose, but it may be that some small changes will fix
them all.

Cheers,

Ben.

I really agree, having the binary in b1 has been long planned and even
communicated to the public.

I was actually serious about possibly releasing 1.3b1 without a win32
binary. I understand that both you and Alexei are without win32 access at
the moment ... so that leaves just Ben, right?

If there's any other win32 programmer out there that wants to look at the
various os-windows bugs in the database, go for it please!

Yeah, ok, let me just telnet into a my remote Win NT system and fix the
problems. Oops. I won't have access to NT until I can physically sit in
front of it, after 6th Oct.

Oh I should probably state that by posting this STATUS I'm giving my +1 to
us moving from the development cycle of this summer into beta ... In fact
other than the features that Jim and I argued about, and patches related
to the style cleanup, I've been trying to follow the 3 votes rule for the
past few weeks. IMHO all the patches below fix bugs.

Unless folks don't think we're ready for beta... in which case I'll gladly
commit these things after 2 days of no comments (which most of them have
already given our relative silence the past week).

We need win32 folks to clear out the various win32 PRs. Especially if
1.3b1 is to include a precompiled win32 binary ... we'll see lots of dups
I'm sure. We could release 1.3b1 without a win32 binary.

mod_rewrite needs line breaks inserted past line 2000 (which is where Roy
left off).
