Apache high performance on Linux

Hello Apache,

First of all: Thanks for providing that great web server software.

About http://www.apache.org/docs/misc/perf.html
In the Linux area, you state that there are no problems with heavily loaded
servers as long as the Linux kernel is >= 2.0.32.

A friend of mine was experiencing slow responsiveness on his 200,000
hits/day Linux-based Apache server (serving pages for a bank in Denmark).
He adjusted some parameters in one of the kernel's tcp-related header files
and the problems went away.

I have discribed the subject on the Linux Net mailing list, see:
http://www.findmail.com/list/linux-net/4064.html

One of the kernel developers endorsed the tweak, see
http://www.findmail.com/list/linux-net/4065.html
David's answer indicates that this issue will be gone when the 2.2 Linux
kernel generation is released.

I thought that you might find it interesting.

Greetings from Denmark.
