Number Format Error

Hi,

When I tried to run the tip given in article:

http://www.jguru.com/faq/view.jsp?EID=915891

I get an error "Cannot format given Object as a Number". Can some one please
give an insight on this one. I'm using Struts 1.2.4.

Did you verify by debugging what you are actually trying to format? In 
other words debug to find out if what you are trying to format can 
really be a number.
