pdf to ps problem

I'm using fop (command line and through cocoon) to generate a pdf. I can open
the pdf on acroread w/o a problem but when I convert it to postscipt for
printing I get an error while processing the ps.

ERROR: nocurrentpoint
OFFENDING COMMAND: currentpoint

-dictionary-
-savelevel-


is there something wrong w/ the pdf fop is generating? I'm using fop_0_12_1 and
I'm calling it w/ java org.apache.fop.apps.CommandLine foo.fo foo.pdf
