can't build incubating (release candidate) code

Maybe I'm just doing something wrong ... but the pdfbox
/tags/0.8.0-incubating<http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/pdfbox/tags/0.8.0-incubating>code
is not building for me.

I was going to run the regression tests before voting.

The external folder is not found*.

I add that manually, then rebuild ... that missing external folder & its
contents seems to be driving the other issues. The folder was there before
the maven layout change (branches/before-maven-layout/external).

Suggestions?

What Ant target are you invoking?

The default target (dist) should automatically download the external
dependencies if they are not already present. Alternatively you can
explicitly call "ant get.externallibs" to get the required libraries.

What have you done in detail? If I unpack the src-jar from my release
candidate and run ant everything works fine.
