Building Jetspeed-2 from source - Unable to obtain goal [deploy-plugin]

Hi,

I am trying to follow the building Jetspeed-2 from source.  "maven 
initMavenPlugin" goal fails with the following error message.  I 
searched through google and mailing list archives, but could not find 
any solution.

My build environment is:
Maven: 1.0.2
Source: Jetspeed-2 trunk
OS: Obuntu 4.10 Linux  (Kernel 2.6.12-10-amd64)
