UnixOperatingSystemMXBean doesn't existed in open JDK 1.6, open JDK doesn't have any get*FileDescriptorCount method in OperatingSystemMXBean at all, we need to provide a corresponding method for it.

Prerequisites say oracle java: http://hbase.apache.org/book.html#basic.prerequisites
Also, 0.92 and 0.90 branches are not being actively worked on. They are too old.
And HBASE-6965 should help you in trunk w/ this issue.
