Many Tests are using a logger that prints to the console. Sometimes you cannot see the summary because there a lot of logging messages. It would be very helpful to have a parameter, that this output only appears in the surefire log files. If a test fails, you have the output in the place you need it.

have you tried this with trunk (ie, built it yourself?) - this is what you've indicated by a fix version of 2.3 but I'm not sure if that's what you meant.
It should be fixed there, but maybe I'm misunderstanding what you wanted.
