### What would you like to happen?
Currently Add sequence allows for a database generated sequence or pipeline counter. Not all databases support sequences, to keep code compatible with all databases one would want to use the pipeline counter.
Currently the start value can be hard coded or can be populated from a parameter/variable.
I would like to populate the start value that I pass in from a preceding select max() query to get the next sequence.

I think I prefer Hans' option to simply read the start value from another 'info' transform. That way you can do it all in one pipeline as requested and it would also be clear that some information is provided.

This would come from the same stream as you would query the table to get the max value to set the beginning sequence number.

Even with what we currently have, you could (ab)use the new variable system to fetch that value on startup.
It would still require a second pipeline, but less overall logic on the workflow

Accept a single row with start, end, and increment values. More than one rows: throw an error.
Add 4 options: transform to accept the sequence configuration values from, the start, end, increment fields to use.
