Trying to build with maven….

I am trying to build with maven. I have never used maven before. 
I have visual studio project files for Windows but I want to move to using a build system that works on both windows and mac os.
There are instructions for using maven but when I follow them it says success without doing anything.

Am I missing a step? Does anybody have any suggestions?

From my understanding Maven won't build any code right now, because
some parts of the build logic were commented by Christian to only be
able to build the project site. Try mvn site, this should work,
everything else needs to be repaired again.

You may try to use ant directly as maven only seems to be a frontend
for ant and it's build.xml. In any case you will need Maven and Ant,
therefore starting with Ant shouldn't be any wasted time at all.
