distribution zip file problem?
Hi All,
I hope this is a stupid question...
I am trying to use the 1.5 distributables and when I open the downloaded
file using winzip version 7 or 8 it says there are no files contained in the
archives.
I've use IE and Netscape to download them, turned off my virus scanner...no
help.
The files have sizes, and I looked at the binaries and I do see the PK
header and contained file info...
I have to assume this is a later winzip version not being compatible with an
earlier version.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
I'm running NT 4 w/sp6a, winzip 7&8.
A file I'm having a problem with:
http://cvs.apache.org/builds/jakarta-cactus/nightly/2003-03-03/jakarta-cactu
s-sample-servlet-13-20030303.zip
Thanks and regards,
Tim

Okay, I've just confirmed that the problem is still there with the most
recent builds (2003-03-06). It looks like a bug in Ant (see
http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=17648, which describes
similar symptoms). A related fix has just been committed to Ant, so we
should be checking the next nightly build to see if the problem has gone
away.

Definitely a weird problem :-P
I've also checked with Cygwin zip/unzip, jar and WinRAR. They all work.
There's nothing special about our usage of the <zip> task AFAICT, and
builds of other projects on that machine seem to work fine (I've looked
at Ant and Slide).
In fact I can reproduce the problem here, using for example the
cactus/anttasks 'release' target. I tried turning off compression,
setting encoding to ASCII and UTF8, and even only including a single
file without path etc. All to no avail. I'm beginning to feel stupid and
will give it a rest :-(
[how can I turn on WinZip trace logging? ;-) ]

Hi Tim,
You're right. I've just tried it and got the same result. Hum... This is
zipped using the <zip> Ant task on a FreeBSD box. I've just opened a
shell there and the archive is fine and can be uncompressed there. I'm
on windows XP and it works with the default XP unzip.
Anyway, there's definitely an issue that we need to fix.
Any idea guys?
Thanks
