Maven and Gump again

Just quickly before I leave for the day... But Stefan reminded me.

I'm planning to take a look at this in the coming week - but I was wondering
what the best approach is.

There is already a goal that will produce a maven installation using Maven -
is this enough for gump, or does Maven need to be able to build from ant (I
imagine it does)?

If so, I will adjust the bootstrap and make a build-gump.xml file that makes
a minimal maven installation, then runs "maven maven:installer" to make a
full one.

I will also update the gump plugin to generate either a maven or ant
descriptor: anyone have a link to where the final <maven /> tag format is?

Sorry for the hurriedness of the email...

Cheers,
Brett

Re: Maven and Gump again

Brett,

Thanks for checking in. We've made some progress with Gump using Maven to
build projects, but we'd really appreciate a Mavenite's help in keeping this
moving forward. If you could keep with us we'd really appreciate it.

Much as we do want to bootstrap Maven, we've accepted your suggestion to go
with a packaged drop first. We are generating a build.properties, that we
hope sets the artefact overrides, and then kicking of a build. This works
for small projects, but falls down for larger ones (I suspect due to
metadata mismatches, or artefact id mismatches.) Please look at:

http://lsd.student.utwente.nl/gump/incubator-geronimo/incubator-geronimo.html

http://lsd.student.utwente.nl/gump/incubator-geronimo/incubator-geronimo.html#Project-level+Files

and perhaps (the simple ones that work):

http://lsd.student.utwente.nl/gump/jakarta-gump-test/gump-test-maven1.html

http://lsd.student.utwente.nl/gump/jakarta-gump-test/gump-test-maven2.html

I've attempted to ensure that all artefacts in Gump have an artefact id, but
I think we need to work together in order to come to agreement on those
names, so we can match. I feel that might be the reason for why geronimo is
failing.

Could you help us look into this, and perhaps keep this one on the front
boiler for us all?

So as not to mess up this thread, I'd like to discuss other work in separate
threads.

regards,

Adam
