[users@httpd] help to start

Dear friends,
I am tring to configure Apache Web Server and it's the first time I am face
to face with a Web Server. I have very weak knowledge of the web and what's
related to it. I have opened the documentation downloaded from the official
site but that list of directives and grammar rules has appeared very obscure
to me. I don't even know what is important to configure to obtain a good
web server, so looking in the documentation to find the rigth usage of directive
is a step still too far for me. Perhaps reading the all manual to find out
every possibility is a waste of time and is a way that does't lead to a
clear understanding of the all picture or how to manage a Web Server.
May someone suggest me a good poit from where to start?

Well i can share my experience with you. First off - manual was only reference 
manual for me. I didn't touch it for a few weeks from my beginning with 
apache. Try searching some articles about apache in sitepoint.com 
devarticles.com and devshed.com. These were my boot-up's for administering 
and configuring apache.
