How are you using the parser?  When I run the sax.Writer sample with a file 
containing:

<aaaa>ddd[ dddd   ]   ccc</aaaa>

it prints out:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<aaaa>ddd[ dddd   ]   ccc</aaaa>

exactly as expected.
