Thanks [~jacques.le.roux] for your inputs. IMO, we can add checks for party, product and party group member options, if the list size is grater then 20 then we will replace dropdown with lookup instead of replacing them for all the options or using lookup for these fields always.
[~pradeep.choudhary1994] please check if this solution works for this case and there is no conflict with dependent select feature.
