Extracting parts of HTTP response to use in next HTTP request

Hi,
I would like to use jmeter for testing an XML based application.

The application has a session id which needs to be inserted into every
message after being returned by the logon XML message.

Has anyone encountered this before or are there any work arounds to achieve
this within standard jmeter?

Thanks,
help really appreciated,
Philip

Hi,

You can use "HTTP User Parameter Modifier".
You set up a file named "users.xml" and drop it in the Jmeter bin directory.
The "HTTP User Parameter Modifier" will pick one user per thread and use it.

It's pretty straightforward.

Remember that it is not one the latest "stable" release. Download one of the
nightly builds.

Juan.
