[jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-13148) Systemd support for RPM
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-13148?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16763388#comment-16763388 ]
Strahinjak Kusutdic commented on CASSANDRA-13148:
-------------------------------------------------
Maybe the unit file could set {{type=notify}} and Cassandra could send systemd that it's ready with [sd_notify|https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/sd_notify.html]. Someone already did the implementation [https://stackoverflow.com/questions/27176303/sd-notify-from-java] in Java.

> Key: CASSANDRA-13148

> Project: Cassandra
> Issue Type: New Feature
> Components: Packaging
> Reporter: Spiros Ioannou
> Priority: Major
>
> Since CASSANDRA-12967 will provide an RPM file, it would be greatly beneficial if this package included systemd startup unit configuration instead of the current traditional init-based, which misbehaves on RHEL7/CentOS7.
