[jira] [Commented] (LANG-1165) FastDateFormat should extend
DateFormat

Gary Gregory commented on LANG-1165:
------------------------------------
Hm... dunno; seems pretty ugly. I could see a {{DateFormat}} subclass that delegates to a {{FastDateFormat}}...
Thoughts? Patch? With tests? ;-)

> Current FDT extends {{Format}} only, thus making it impossible to replace SDF where {{DateFormat}} is accepted.
> I am using Jackson's {{ObjectMapper}} which has a {{#setDateFormat}} method. But -- it accepts {{DateFormat}}. Impossible to use FDT.
