[ANNOUNCE] Hadoop-1.0.1 maintenance release code freeze

Hi all,
I propose to cut a Hadoop 1.0.1 release candidate this Monday, 30 January.
 Code freeze to be Sunday the 29th, unless someone has a strong reason to
wait longer.

This is strictly a maintenance release, so it will contain only bug fixes
that interfered with field use of 1.0.0. The current candidate patches for
inclusion are:

MAPREDUCE-3607 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MAPREDUCE-3607> Port
missing new API mapreduce lib classes to 1.x (needed by sqoop, etc.)
HADOOP-7987 </> Support setting the run-as user in unsecure mode
HADOOP-7964 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-7964> Deadlock in
class init.
HADOOP-7960 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-7960> Port
HADOOP-5203 to branch-1, build version comparison is too restrictive

If you want something else in, and it is a break fix/maintenance issue,
mark the Jira "Target Version" to 1.0.1 and get the patch committed by
Sunday, please.

Thank you,
--Matt (1.0 Release Manager)
