[PR] feat(landing): Community section, vendor neutrality & sticky nav (Closes #16) [magpie-site]
potiuk opened a new pull request, #21:
URL: https://github.com/apache/magpie-site/pull/21
Closes #16 — the Community nav link previously opened lists.apache.org with no
context. It now opens an in-page **Community** section that explains each
channel and how to get involved.
## Top nav
- Replaces the separate "Community" (mailing-list) and "GitHub" links with a
single in-page **Community** anchor, and adds a **Vendor Neutral** anchor.
- The top bar is now **sticky** while scrolling, with smooth-scrolling anchors
(and `scroll-padding-top` so headings aren't hidden behind the bar).
- **Docs** is now a distinct filled **"Open Docs"** pill (↗) that opens in a new
tab, signalling it leaves the landing page.
## New Community section (`#community`)
- States that Apache Magpie is an ASF project built in the open following the
**Apache Way** (links to apache.org and theapacheway).
- Explains how the channels are used — GitHub (issues/PRs), Slack (#magpie), and
the **developer mailing list**, which lets you take part fully over email if
you'd rather not use GitHub or Slack.
- Engage cards: mailing list (subscribe + archive), Slack (ASF self-invite),
contributing (guide + issues).
- ASF/ComDev reference links: How the Foundation works, Becoming a committer,
Communication & etiquette, Community Development.
- **Committer/PMC roster** rendered as GitHub avatars served locally — no GitHub
widgets, no hotlinking.
## Vendor neutrality
- New anchored **Vendor Neutral** section.
- Adds a point that skills run across agent CLIs and ecosystems (Claude Code,
Codex, …) via the open **AGENTS.md** standard, not tied to one vendor's tool.
## Skill families
- Explains families work both inside and outside the ASF, and that we welcome
support for other maintainership / governance models.
- ASF-specific families (`release-management`, `contributor-growth`) are marked
with a small Apache oak-leaf logo in the card's top-right.
## Avatar sync
`scripts/sync-community.mjs` resolves the `apache/magpie-committers` GitHub team,
downloads avatars into `public/community-avatars/`, and regenerates
`src/data/community.json`. Run via the manual `sync-community` prek hook
(`npm run sync-community`); it needs a `read:org` token and is a graceful no-op
without one.
